I created a custom PCB with a 'F1101 device, a pair of transistors and
a MAX3221 to handle communications using a RS232 connection. The
current 'c' code just barely fits into the 1K flash space of the 1101
A low dropout voltage regulator is used to power the board and control
the reset line.

Some MSP430's have problems with brownout conditions. They are such a
low current drain part that they don't discharge the supply caps
quickly enough so a reset generator is always a good idea.
