For a modest amount of money (about $950) you can buy CrossWorks for
the MSP430, Rowley has great support and their tools are excellent.
They have Linux, Windows and Mac versions. Their license is per-developer
so there are no problems having it installed on your laptop and your
desktop systems. They regularly participate in the msp430 mailing list
on yahoogroups.com
With my test install I had to disable the print server before the JTAG
would work correctly. I didn't have the same problem with GCC (although
that may have been due to a different system).
